Who we are
Galaxy Specialty Pharmacy is an independent specialty pharmacy conveniently located in Christus SantaRosa Hospital, Tower #1, in San Antonio, Texas.

COMPOUNDED DRUGS
What is Compounding?
Compounded or custom-blended medications are the art of preparing a custom drug using pure, pharmaceutical-grade raw materials/products to meet a patient’s needs and in agreement with a physician’s prescription. These have been available for centuries. It wasn’t until the 1900s that manufactured medications became available. Today, most patients use manufactured, “one-size-fits-all” medications, which we know work great for most people. However, each person has his/her own specific medical needs and many times compounded medications will meet those needs. If a medication is available orally, we might be able to compound a topical form of the same drug. If a medication is no longer available commercially, we might be able to compound it for you. By preparing an individual dosage form for customers and their specific needs, compounding medications will help Galaxy Specialty Pharmacy provide a better and much-needed service to you, our customers.
Compounded Drugs
How do I get Compounded Drugs and how long will it take to make?
It is a violation of federal laws to dispense prescription drugs – including compounded drugs, without a valid doctor’s prescription. Prior to your pharmacy visit, obtain a valid prescription from your doctor. Since compounded medications are made specifically for you, we need time to formulate and prepare your medication. Depending upon the complexity, compounded medications normally take between 24 and 72 hours to complete.
